Non-update Update

You know what happens when you don’t blog for a few days?  You end up having a million and a half things you want to write about and share, and about a dozen things you feel compelled to comment on.  Oh yeah… I’ve been keeping a running list, believe me.  Some of the posts to look for in the very near future:

  • Ann’s Totally Rad 80’s Prom post (with pictures!  For now you can check them out the set on my Flickr Stream.  It was a most totally rad time, and everyone was there–Rick Astley, Prince, Boy George, the Macho Man, and a ton of folks who managed to relive the 80’s in one incredible night!
  • A M:tG post about the first Summit and the latest Summit 2: The Counsel of Odin (Gotta love Norm’s names for these get togethers! Incidentally, if you’re interested in playing and joining in on the fun, but you have no idea what all these acronyms are about, scoot on over to Norm’s Casual Magic blog and check out his “How to” series–it’s great!).
  • Hell’s Kitchen has started again, and I can openly admit that I’m addicted to that show somethin’ fierce.  Maybe I share too much with Chef Ramsay.  Maybe I just love to see people under pressure.  All I know is that I’m elated that Jason got the boot tonight.  I may have to make regular commentary on the show on Tuesdays.  We’ll see.
  • J.K. Rowling is suing a publishing house that is trying to publish the Harry Potter Lexicon based on a fan site that she herself used as reference material.  Believe it or not, this lawsuit has some far reaching, and serious implications in the reviewing, academic, online, and fan-centered art worlds.  Well, the book world in general really.  Why does it matter?  You’ll see.

And since it seems like it’s something that can’t be helped, and because it’s being thrust in my face every which way I turn–email blasts, snail mail fliers, Twitter conversations, TV commercials–I guess it’s time to rant about politics and what’s making my teeth want to wrap around and chew out my brain.  The topics that are likely to be addressed:

  • O’Bama’s “bitter” statement and the response from the pubic, media, and the two other campaigns.
  • The recent (and hyper production and dissemination) appearance of the Clinton negative response ad to the “bitter” statement.
  • John McCain’s response to “How do we beat the Bitch?” question from a supporter.
  • Are people this blind, really?
  • …. No seriously… are they?  ‘Cause I need to know…

“It hurts and stings…”

I’ll give you five bucks if you incorporate “intensive purposes” into this:

Here are the rules (from Amy, person who tagged me):
    1) Write your own six word story.
    2) Post it on your blog [and include a visual illustration if you’d like].
    3) Link to the person that tagged you in your post [me!], and to the original post if possible [so we can track it as it travels].
    4) Tag at least five others with links.
    5) Don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.
    6) Have fun!
