Alaskan King Crab Legs

Everyone knows about the staple “picnic foods.”  Of course you have your hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, chicken, fruit salad, and usually a desert that has enough sugar to make your teeth ache just thinking about it.  I don’t have a problem with traditional picnic food–on the contrary, I love it!  But I think those old stand by’s could use some flair.  There’s something missing.  If you could add one food to the picnic food regimen, what would it be?

For me, it would be Crab Legs.  Crab Legs and tons of butter–enough butter to clog your arteries and raise your cholesterol by just being in the same room.  Now, I know that Crab Legs don’t keep particularly well, but I’m not so sure I care.  If you want the deliciousness of Crab Legs, get there early and on time so you can partake in the seafoody goodness!  Cold Crab Legs are just plain gross, and if you’re going to serve some clusters of Alaskan King Crab, then they’re not cheap either.  You’d have to strategize on when to steam them, when to roll them out for the guests, and how you’re going to stop the mad rush to the table when you do.
